Forest School Update

Forest School: Week One Wrap-Up!

The "spring greens" are officially back, and so are we! It’s been a whirlwind first week back at Forest School for Kingfisher and Platypus Classes. From survival skills to muddy knees, here is what we’ve been up to:

Nature Detectives

Our Year 5s became junior botanists this week! We explored the rested site and learned how to spot the difference between Cow Parsley and Hogweed. Of course, no walk is complete without some "Sticky Willy" (Cleavers) hitching a ride on our coats!

Rescue Mission!

Teamwork was the name of the game when we had a "pretend casualty" with a broken leg. The students showed incredible resourcefulness, building a functional stretcher using:

  • 2 Coats

  • Strong, thick branches

  • Paracord.

  • It was a little bit scary being carried, but everyone made it back to base camp safely!

The Highlights of the week were:

  • Working together to build sturdy dens.

  • Giving each other a boost on the climbing tree and swings.

  • Hunting for bugs in the fresh spring undergrowth.

  • And the winner is... The Muddy Digging Hole, which remains the undisputed favorite spot on site!

Leopard Class Highlights:

Thursday was all about the "Great Outdoors" for Leopard Class. It was wonderful to see the children very confident in an unusual environment.

"Forest School isn't just about being outside; it's about building confidence, resilience, and muddy memories."
