Year 4 Update

Year 4 has had an incredible term! It has been busy, hot and hectic - but they have risen to the challenge admirably. We started the term with our MTC tests, which the children have worked incredibly hard for. Well done to all of them for trying their very best - we have some super scores!
In addition to this, we have enjoyed some great workshops - firstly the ‘Paper Allotment’ project, where we collaborated together to make paper items to be judged in a gardening competition. The children produced some great produce, judged magnificently by the rabbit judge…it was a great morning.
We were also inspired at the beginning of our Egyptian studies, by an exciting enrichment day. Our visiting theatre group Freshwater gave us an inspiring introduction to this ancient civilization and gave us a glimpse into their lives and beliefs. Some of us dressed up to join in with the fun!
We have experienced some very warm weather this term, we are so impressed with the way the children have adapted to this, with no complaints of the heat. We are proud of them! In addition to the MTCs, the children have sat more extensive papers this term assessing their progress in Maths, Reading, Spelling and Punctuation. You will be receiving a full report of their progress this year.
This week has seen our transition time, whereby the children have had an opportunity to meet with their new teaching staff and get a feel of their new classroom environment. Starfish will become Kingfishers and Otters will be Crocodiles. We very much enjoyed watching the Year 6 production ‘Grimm’ this week and were very impressed by the talent on show - both in the acting and the scenery produced. In Art we have been finishing our lamps inspired by our RE Hinduism studies. These are based upon the colourful lamps used for Diwali.
