Year 3 has had an amazing start to the year.  The children have settled into their new classes well and they are enjoying learning lots of new things.

In Maths, they have been learning about Place Value and have been consolidating their understanding of Hundreds, Tens and Ones.  Within this, they have learnt how to  partition numbers using a part-whole model and also bar models.  They have also been very excited about learning how to use a digital online platform, Magma Maths, to be able to show their thinking.

Within English, the children have written their first portfolio piece of writing, which has been a recount of the story, Ocean Meets Sky.  They focused on learning about how and when to use a and an and also about expanded noun phrases.  

The children are very proud of their first piece of portfolio writing, and we are very proud of them as well. Well done, Year 3! 

Year 3 has also started to learn a new foreign language - French!  They are thoroughly enjoying learning all about France and how to greet some in French.  Ask them if they can say, ‘My name is…’ in French!

In History they have been learning all about The Stone Age and the different eras within it.  We will be continuing our learning and finding out all about how The Stone Age impacted Britain.
