Forest School Update

Year 3 Takes on the Elements! Rain, snow, or sunshine—nothing stops our Year 3 explorers! Last term at Forest School, the children proved that there’s no such thing as bad weather, only great opportunities for learning and resilience. To wrap up a fantastic term, our young woods-people put their skills to the test. We revisited the art of whittling greenwood, and the children were absolute pros at explaining the "why" behind the craft: Greenwood Wisdom: They remembered that fresh "green" wood is full of moisture, making it safe for toasting treats without catching fire! The "Blood Bubble": Safety remains our No 1 priority. Everyone practiced their "blood bubble" zones, ensuring a safe distance before unsheathing their Mora knives and whittling away from their bodies. Clean & Sharp: We whittled away the bark to keep our snacks hygienic and create the perfect point for the ultimate marshmallow roast. The reward for all that hard work? A crackling campfire, gooey S’mores, and steaming mugs of hot chocolate to warm up those chilly fingers.  We are so proud of the independence and grit Year 3 has shown this term. Well done, everyone! #ForestSchool #OutdoorLearning #Year3 #Resilience #Whittling Skills #SmoresTime #NatureClassroom
