Visit from Mr Singh
Mr Singh, a local Sikh friend of Westlands Primary, visited our year 5 and 6 classes this week to explain to us all about the Sikh faith.
He taught us what it means to be a Sikh in our community but also explained the 5Ks of Sikhism in more detail. These are kesh (unshorn hair and beard), kangha (a comb for the kesh), kara (a bracelet), kachera (an undergarment), and kirpan (a small curved sword or knife made of iron or steel).
Our year 5 and 6 classes had so many questions and Mr Singh answered them in a humorous and fun way; we were all really fascinated and loved finding out about a religion through the life of a local person, living out their faith. Thank you for your visit Mr Singh!
