Term 1
Term 2
Term 3

Year 6 have had a really successful return to school after such a long break. They have been keen to learn and shown that they have pride in what they produce. We have been particularly proud of their achievements in Topic when learning about Crime and Punishment between 1500 and 1800.

The way in which the children present their learning and think about the skills that they have been focusing on has changed this year and they have taken to it beautifully; have a look at some examples of their Topic learning:

                                                                      Ella Nicole

In English, we have been reading the book ‘Holes’ by Louis Sachar and the children have thoroughly enjoyed the trials and tribulations of Stanley Yelnats. They have written in role as Stanley when completing informal letters, they have produced fantastic, action-packed narratives and precise descriptions. There have been some fantastic pieces produced and the children enjoyed watching the film and comparing it to the book too.

Olly B                                                       Amy S

In Maths, we have gone back to basics and looked at the four operations as well as the properties of number. We have also touched upin BODMAS (BIDMAS) as well as fractions this term. In addition - times tables and arithmetic practices remain central to our maths learning as they underpin Maths knowledge.

In Science, we have been learning about ‘Forces’ and just like Topic, we are thinking about ways in which pupils can represent their learning with more freedom to be creative. Take a look at what they have been doing.

In Art we have studied Banksy the famous street artist who always delivers a message with his artwork and also at Catman, who paints around Whitstable. Children have emulated the work of Banksy as well as producing pieces of their own in his style.
